Things are going well at DesignOne. Last week I worked on AHA CPR website design, and this week I did comps for CCM brochure and member/enrollment book covers.
This is my 5th week at DesignOne. Last week I worked on a few logo comps and updated some of the articles I've been working on the previous weeks, they seem to constantly evolve. The people here are friendly and I'm enjoying the varied work. Currently I'm working on a website interface for AHA.
This week at DesignOne, I'm designing the covers for the articles I've been working on for the past weeks and making small text revisions. Instead of printing one big magazine, they've decided to have the individual articles online, to cut down on the cost.
I just finished working on the Kingdom's Kids Ministry newsletter which will be given out at the Romanian Annual Mission Conference. I reworked the title, added a cool sunburst behind it for a more modern twist, and kept the same orange layout throughout. For the headlines, I used a free font named Bleeding Cowboy and a hand written font for the body copy. I'm pleased on how it came out.
I just finished a b/k flyer for our church, which turned out really cute. I found a really cool website with free vector silhouettes and swirls, burst and other interesting elements for quick layouts. How convenient.
Today's illustrations: Playtime , and My Party were inspired by some photographs I took of my daughter's birthday last week. Copyright 2008 - Ramona Stalinescu.
One of my bird prints was featured on Etsy's "Purples and Greens" treasury today. It made me smile, thanks Debie. This is the second item that was featured in a treasury. The Treasury is a member-curated gallery of short-lived lists of 12 hand-picked items each. It functions as a high-demand promotional tool that many devoted Etsians fight to get.
This week-ends festival was good market research for my particular niche and hopefully drove some traffic to my online store via business cards. Overall good experience, nice people. I probably could have done a better job setting up my booth... it's all a learning process.
NEXT SATURDAY, September 20, 2008 I will be at the Happy Days Festival , in Hapeville, GA, selling my creations, art, t-shirts and home accessories. The Festival will be held at Jess Lucas Y-Teen Park | 680 South Central Avenue, Hapeville.
I had fun yesterday working on a fresh new look for my website, blog and etsy store. I kept the blue, but toned it down a notch and added one of my new illustration on the HP. I got rid of the bird icons from the navigation and kept the links as text only. Check it out! baabaacreations.com
So today I started a new series of illustrations, that are a bit funkier and fun. It's a combination of my old ones with a lot of new elements added. This is what some good music and a little daydreaming will do. Copyright 2008 - Ramona Stalinescu
I havn't created anything since June.. until today. I named the new illustration "One pigeon, two pigeons, three" . The inspiration was a photo I took during my summer vacation in Europe. Copyright 2008 - Ramona Stalinescu
I found Irina Moise's happy little blog, called stuff I do . It makes me smile, so I couldn't help but blog about it. She is an artist living in Romania and loves to create things... She draws, paints, makes clay figurines, and more. Her work is very colorful and humorous. Her work inspires me. Thanks Irina! Check out some of her cute little creations and spread the word. All images used on this post are courtesy of stuff I do , by Irina Moise.
Move over business cards, a Victorian-era etiquette is coming back ; so I've read in an article printed in "TIME" magazine. Since most people living today, including me would have no idea what a "calling card" is let me explain. It's simply an old fashioned social network tool, somewhat like a business card. It's a more personal, creative way to give someone your number instead of having them punch it into their cell or sending it via the very impersonal email. They are somewhat bigger and it can be as fun as your personality. Click here to read the entire article and view a sample calling card.
Sorry I know I've been slacking this sumer. I'm back in the US now and I will try to post some of the more artistic pictures I've been taking during my Europe. Please do come back, thanks.
