What is a brand?

A BRAND is a person’s gut feeling about a product, service, or organization. It’s not what you say it is, it’s what they (customers) say it is.

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you see a logo or a company name?

“A brand is the set of expectations, memories, stories and relationships that, taken together, account for a consumer’s decision to choose one product or service over another.” –Seth Godin

Find out here what the World's Most Valuable Brands are.

A ‘personal brand’ is your reputation. It refers to the way other people see you as a business owner or representative of an idea, organization, or activity. Are you a genius? An expert? Are you trustworthy? What do you represent? What do you stand for? What ideas and notions pop up as soon as someone hears your name?

When you have a personal brand, people recognize and care about your name, what you’re working on, what you offer, and what you’re about.

CHALLENGE: Think about your personal brand today. What are others thinking or feeling when they think of your company and you as a business owner? Not sure, ask your customers. Their opinions will help you see what improvements you can do to bring their idea of your brand to your expectations. Nurture relationships, improve customer service, integrity, etc. Make sure there isn't a disconnect between what you think your brand is what others actually think it is?

Learn from the best, stay open minded, don't be afraid to admit if you have to work on some things.
